The Three Graces
Tonight I was the guest of honor of The Three Graces. It was Guy Appreciation Night. I have three women friends. Each of us are close for different reasons and we are all friends with one another. All of our demographics are very different, but we are all oddly tied together somehow is a strong friendship.
In Greek mythology The Three Graces are goddesses of such things as charm, beauty, and creativity. One of the Graces is and artist who I met because of this blog. I am a collector of her art; three pieces is a collection. One Grace is a cowgirl who I've ridden with often and we rely on one another to care for each others horses. The third Grace is a very stylish pillar of the community ; ) She has a strong moral compass. I appreciate her honesty and her quick reaction when someone does something evil. She is the champion of those who have been wronged.
It was an honor to be in the presence of these Three Graces for an hour this evening. It was great that they treated to a wonderful dinner.

That is a horribly unflattering painting. If I put that up, I'd get thumped for it.
One is Auntie, of course. Who were the other two?
Personally I love this image Rev and am flattered that he used this beautiful piece of art by (I think) Ruebens.
Well played, Guy. We all love you too.

....and yet, there was no mention of what was actually FOR dinner.
*sad sigh*
I'd love to have those kinds of dinners. Sadly, my husband thinks I'm going to run off with one of my friends. meh.
Dsrev, they understand the classic beauty of the myth. The others present were The Blue Mamba and Honey Diablo.
Auntie, Ruebens it was. Other artists don't do it justice, so I consider it the only version of the Three Graces. Just like there is only one St. Sebastion painting, all the others are wannabes.
Amy, it was an Pastaria. I had shrimp Alfredo, Auntie had the Scampi, Honey Diablo and Blue Mamba had the spaghetti and mildly sweet Italian sausage. We shared bread with a bowl of olive oil and very nice balsamic vinegar.
It reminded me of when I used to eat out every night a half lifetime ago. I was surprised to see how many Monday night diners were out on the town. Not just the restaurant we were in but they filled the other eateries in town as well. The economy must be doing much better here.
I can't even express how much I love good alfredo!
Tell Jesse to lighten up, all of your friends are related to him ; )
It was pretty good Alfredo sauce. A bit pale compared to mine. I use a stick of butter, one egg yolk, a wedge of Parmesan cheese, some pepper and snip in some greenery such as cilantro or green onion.
I was just never a big fan of Ruebens. His backgrounds and actual technique were always wonderful. But his models, or his representations of his models, always looked like bodybuilders gone to seed. And they always have the oddest expressions on their faces.
Guy, I would argue about the three graces with you. My favorite is and has always been from Botticelli's "Primeva" But Ruebens is my 2nd.

Oops, you'll need one sup of sour cream for the above recipe.
Darev, funny because your sister once referred to herself as Reubeneque when I first met her.
Auntie, I think you're right, I could have chosen better. But please consider I wrote that the moment I got home and I was rushing so I could watch a crappy TV show on the DVR.
Well, she always has an odd expression on her face too, so I guess the description fits.
I just keep wondering why 3 gals would be standing around with no clothes on? I look at the picture and just can't figure out what the occasion was?!!
Are there similar pictures of 3 guys standing around with no clothes on? Please say no.
That would be really weird.
