The Unique North Coast
There is always something that makes life a little more interesting here on the Oregon Coast. It isn’t just the movies that are filmed here, the Crab and Wine festival or the Regatta, or even Trivia Night at the Baked Alaska.
I’m talking how authentic off beat stuff like how the Rinehart Clinic donates a free vasectomy as the grand prize in Jetty Fishery annual Crab Derby in Nahalem. How about Mary Todd’s Bingo for Meat? It doesn’t get any better than that.
I’m sure I’m missing some of the better events. I hope the locals can fill in some of the blanks here. Also, do you out of towners have anything to beat what we have going here?

If (as an out of towner) I have anything to report that beats what you have going on there - it's gone totally out of my head.
I'm still reeling from that picture! Couldn't figure out what it was - at first glance...
Looks like you need to trim your nails, Pappy!
Does a festival day with parade and all the rest in December to celebrate the man from just up the road about 10 miles (Chester A. Greenwood)who invented "earmuffs" count?? How about the "New Year's Celebration" held this weekend every year just up the mountain a bit more (25 miles from here). They have it in July as winter travel sux:)
WHAT Trivia Night at Baked Alaska??? Did you know I was on Win Ben Stein's Money? Let's go!
Okay, I also want to know when Bingo for Meat is. I'm a vegetarian, but the way my family eats it, you'd think they were feral.
Please keep us updated...
MO3 - its friday nights. I am so going to have fun doing that some night with you. Bring the evil genius to be on our team and maybe we can convince Guy to join us to.
Went to the crab derby, which was a total hoot, except for the monsoon.
Heard they were giving away a vasectomy, but thought it was a joke. Guess not!
Beth, I love making you Canadians blush.
Auntie, Yes, if that were me.
Mike, yep, yours comes real close.
Mo3, You were on Ben Stein? He's a Republican, how could you?
Astorianna, it's been the grand prize for years, and it is as real as it gets.
Guy, there's always the Moxie fest, dedicated to the official state soft drink, or the wife totin' races for which the 1st place is the lady's weight in beer:)
Mike, looks like you are steeped in culture as well. I guess if you have to live with the cold and black flies it at least better be interesting.
mo3, I am so jealous that you were on Ben Stein's show. How did you do?
