To All You Yahoos Out There

A note to all you that use Yahoo as your E-mail provider:

I understand that having an E-mail address that you can always have regardless of your ever changing Internet Service Provider is convenient, but frankly Yahoo sucks. I cannot tell you how many times important communication has been lost when sent to Yahoo addresses. There are people with Yahoo that I’ve corresponded with for years; I’m in their address book, yet my messages to them still get sent to their junk box.

I have learned to reply to my Yahoos out there with separate messages from two different E-mail accounts, yet sometimes that doesn’t work.

Normally I’d let my bitch with Yahoo slide. I’ve been letting it slide for years, but someone that is trying to schedule me for two speaking engagements this spring thought I was not interested in the engagements. He finally found my lengthy reply in his junk box or trash bin. I think I will continue the negotiations by phone.

So all you Yahoos out there should be wondering what you are missing because I’m sure I’m not the only one sending you stuff that isn’t getting to you. It’s not like I’m using messages with the words “Rolex, Enhance, Important, or Degree” in the subject line.

I always check my spam bin before I delete things in there. SOme of the replys to my blog went there at first and I had to label them as "not spam". It has its problems, but I've been using yahoo for ten years now and it's been pretty consistent. My wife uses whatever server mail we have as her addy and has had to change a bazillion times. Yahoo mail is like my life. It's flawed, but it works for me.

Wow, I never check my spam bin, but as far as I know, I haven't missed anything. Of course, I don't really have anything important incoming. Ever.

Now AOL mail has put stuff in spam a few times, so I check them occasionally. Guess I'd better do the same with Yahoo.

Gmail is the one I don't care for, but it might be because I haven't taken the time to learn about it.

I only have one Yahoo in my life. He forwards me stuff, evidently.

Crap, should I continue to keep this person in my life now that I know that he has random forwarding disease? (RFD)

LOL

Auntie - too bad they don't have "spam" filters on OUTGOING mail, eh?

Or maybe they do. I've had people ask about email they allegedly forwarded me, that I've never received ... and I just have my filter set to flag "spam", but still deliver to me.

I switched to gmail a long time ago because Yahoo's spam filters are so bad.

Should Auntie dump her yahoo?
Should the yahoo keep forwarding things to Auntie even though it drives her crazy?
Should Auntie tell Guy she's carrying Steve Garveys baby?
And what about Mary Lou?
Tune in next week for another exciting episode of "As Toria Rusts"

gmail of course.

it's all about the "g"

it is my humble opinion that gmail has the best bozo bin out there. i check the bin once in awhile (less nowadays) just to make sure nothing important slipped by. i can't remember the last time i had to resurrect something from the bin.

Auntie dear, you practically dared me to forward you something! The gauntlet was thrown down... I dared not shirk or forsake my honor.
Besides, you liked it... fess up!

Donna, it is worth learning. Hopefully Google won't do something to mess it up.

Auntie and Darev...Get A Room you two...

Walt, one nice thing about switching addresses once in a while is you get to ditch the spam and people you just can't get rid of.

g that reminded me to check the spam box on my g mail account, and there was one thing that should have gotten to me. Oh well.

I love sitting here with my morning coffee having a good laugh. A great way to wake up. I wonder why it's taken me so long to join in.

I always check my Spam box before I trash mails in it. So far (in 10 years) it has only caught a couple of my personal mails in it.

However, my hubby who uses a non-web-based eMail loses mails all the time from myself and other family members, because they get sorted into the trash. My mails to him also bounce back as Spam once every 5 times. I can resend the same message right away and it goes through the next time though.

So while Yahoo may have its problems, I really think every other service also has theirs.

I use several mailers & ALL leave something to be desired. My biggest pain is Hotmail. I learned the hard way to monitor ALL spam and to check the blocked addresses regularly. Yahoo has a tendency on mine to declare any MSN mail spam. It also puts ME in the spam if I mail myself something from Yaphooey to Yaphooey! grrrrrr
