Kennys

I recently became aware of how many mature adult men I know that are named Kenny. They are not Kens or Kenneths, but they are all Kennys. All five of them are Kennys and proud of it. You don’t often hear of adult Joeys, Billys or Bobbys, but I guess it’s OK to be an adult named Kenny.

There are even a bunch of famous Kennys as well, Kenny Rogers, Kenny Chesney, Kenny Loggins, Kenny G. The only two quasi famous Kens I know of are Ken Nordine and Ken Berry.

Maybe it just me but when I hear their spouses talk of them I always think they are talking about their children, and then it hits me, “Oh it’s that hairy guy they are married to.”

So to all you Kennys out there, rock on!

This reminds me that when people (male or female) are being particularly kind, nice or "sweet" to me, they call me Bethie. Makes me feel like a little kid again.

What are you talking about? There are a whole host of adults in this town who go by Jimmy, Bobbie, Sammie, Kenny, Timmy, Rusty, Joey, etc. Uncle B deals with them on a daily basis as I am sure does DaRev. LOL

I know a Kenneth. That's his name, and that's what he goes by.

I know quite a few Kennys and a few Kens. Kennys seem to be friendlier. And I have a coworker who refers to her husband as Kenny but when she speaks to him, it's Ken. Kind of a humorless sort of dude. And I've only really known one Kenneth and he was a word that I don't want to use here. I know lots of Timmys and Jimmys and even a Herbie. What we have a plethora here of is Lindells. I had never heard that name until I moved here and now I'm hip deep in them.

They call themselves Kenny because they do not want to have a stranger pounding on them yelling, "Whats the frequency Kenneth? Whats the frequency?!!"

About the same with me now that I think about it. Got one Kenneth, he's 16 & a 'junior', Dad's Kenny. Also got a Ken up the hill, he's 6 or 7. All the adults seem to go by Kenny. Odd, now that I really consider it.

Beth, and you've worked hard to get away from that image, haven't you Elizabeth? See, I'm playing it safe.

Loopy, elsewhere it's Bubah.

Auntil, it is required that if Uncle B deals with them they must have either the name Robert or Lee in their names.

Jaggy , Finally there is one.

Darev, you're right the Kennys are friendlier.

Gearhead, but that all well and good, but the guy that happened to was a Dan.

OK Dalia, I give I give...Dang, people in the publishing industry are so literal ; )

Mike, thanks especially after Dalia beat me up so badly.

Trop, I'll ask permission after your visit. Hey everybody, Trop is coming to visit me in June.

I might be paying you a visit later this year, too, Guy. Big changes are afoot here. I don't know if you can handle two Virginians in one year. ;-)

I don't know any Kenny's...One Ken,a couple of Joe's (one Joey), a few more Mark's...throw in a few Steven's...For a while there, we were surrounded by a bunch of Mike's...always had to refer to them by their last name or in reference w/ their wife's name to know which one we were talking about.

I have one in my class and he's 7. Just like the guy in the example picture, though.

As for the weather you said you were sending? We only got about 15" of snow over the weekend. That much doesn't slow me down. Last year we got 41" in one day and the schools did not close. I live in the snow belt. Google it.

OK Gearhead, my head is spinning now.

Rich, bring it on. Send me a list of who you want to meet when you are here.

Ginger, I bet you don't have that problem with the horses of your past. BTW Are your horses and hay OK after the storm? Did they lose any housing?

Darev, almost like John and Yoko without the photos.

Patty, I hope he doesn't get killed every week. Now that I think of it they are no longer killing Kenny every week in South Park. I wonder why? On and for the weather, I forgot about the Lake effect you get hit with as well back there. Well, for us it was pretty nasty for close to two weeks.

Are you pulling my leg? Didn't Gwen tell you that our NEW 10,000sf barn fell on Xmas day? We saw the WHOLE THING FALL TO THE GROUND! It was awful. My husband JUST got the roof on the month before. So much for progress! Oh, and my indoor riding arena....a section started to go in the middle of the night the eve of Xmas (I heard a crash, but was so sick about the big barn, I didn't even want to look out the window to see what was falling next..plus the horses were in another pasture, for their own safety, so I wasn't AS concerned.) The next day my husband and son were up on all the roofs shoveling. The insurance guy was out...the contractors are coming out this week. If I could send you pics, I would...it's hard to look at w/o crying. Silver lining: We are looking at putting up a steel frame building. The hay is fine...that structure seemed to de-snow/ice on it's own. We were lucky...a couple of structures the other side of Birkenfeld fell w/ horses inside. The fire department was able to rescue them all. Oh, and at the same time, Our main water line busted...not because of the weather (at first we thought it was), but because of the fire station that was built on our property...the road goes across the main line, and over time, the ground settled and the weight of the apparatus must have taken a toll and crushed the line. It was nice to at least figure out what was wrong so we could fix it. I've never had so much pressure before! My washer and dishwasher, shower, etc. all work so much better! Again, silver lining! Not to worry, things will work out :)

Ginger, I haven't spoken to Gwen in over a month, right before the storms hit. You told me about your arena, but I didn't know if your horses were stalled under that roof of if you lost your hay. I'd like to pick up my generator that is supposed to be at the church this weekend. If you are free I'd like to swing by and meet you if you are up for it. If so, write me at brbpress@gmail.com. This address should be more Yahoo friendly.
