The Chicks
Heather wanted to see the baby chicks and how they grown. They are a month old today and here is what they look like now. Rhode Island Red on the left and a Buff Orpington on the right.
If you remember we ordered 25 and when you order 25 they throw in an "Exotic" chicken. Anyone with a guess as to what this chick is? Big hint are the blue legs.

lol...they sure grow quick!! ....and the Super Max looks awesome :)
um, the blue legs don't help one not well versed in chicken ID, but glad to see they are all safe and sound!
Ah, sweet...
As for the exotic one? Even with the hint, this city girl hasn’t got a clue.
Great, now I have the Papa Jack's song stuck in my head. You know, the one about "the chicks are comin', we can hardly wait...the chicks are comin' don't be late."
Could it be.....? The rare but delectable Blue Legged Haversham? The rarest of all chickens?
I'm just guessing here.
::squeak:: Awwww....do they let you cuddle them?!
Cool, they gave you a blue footed booby!
All, see todays post on the Super Max.
Amy, they actually do. We spend time every day socializing with them so they run to us rather than run away. We take them some lettuce and we hold it for them and they peck away at it. When they see us coming they all run for the door to wait for us. This way when we start free ranging them they will come running when we call them to get them back into the Super Max when we want to close them up.
Now the "Exotic", I'm thinking Araucanas or Americanas. They lay blue eggs. We'll see.
can we call her....."blue"?
what?
:)
Irish, No! Never name something you might eat.
they're strangely cute. chickens aren't among my favourite animals, but still these gals look like they might be friendly enough to let you pet'em.
