Visionary Wanted

I am a registered voter. I am registered independent so I get all the mailings from both sides. I am one of the swing voters. The parties can pretty much count on their sheep voting for the party of which they are registered, so I am really worth courting.

I’ve been seeing commercials from Dudley and Kitzhaber who are both running for Governor. Dudley is a former NBA Basketball player who only recently registered to vote. Kitzhaber is a former two-term Governor of this State that as far as I remember his only accomplishment was starting the Oregon Health Plan.

Both candidate’s ads say the same thing, they want to bring jobs back to Oregon, but neither are stating how they are going to do this. Politicians always boast that they have a plan, but never tell us what their plan is. Here’s the deal, I’m not voting for either of you unless I see a detailed plan. I don’t think anyone is excited by either of you. We don’t want a governor that is a party sycophant. We want a visionary leader. Go out on a limb and you’ll get my vote.

Cliff and I have decided to vote on whoever is NOT the incumbent this year.
I very much want term limits for Congress, but that isn't going to happen.

I will no longer vote for people. I will decide which issues I dislike and vote against them, that's all. I am disenchanted with all politicians.

I not only take a real look at the politician, it's equally important to look at who they have close to them, Allen Alley supports Dudley, and has worked for a dem gov in the past. Dudley has good solid people around him, we just can't do Kitzhaber again, been there done that........Dudley has my vote, I'd look for Alley to be more vocal about his working with Dudley.

Donna, that won't fix the problem, it will just give you someone else to vote against next time. I think under-votes have more of an impact.

Darev and Tango I understand your frustration.

Ann, Where is his vision? He like all other candidates know how to tell us there is a problem and that it needs to be fixed, but no one is coming up with ideas on how to fix the problems. All I ask is that someone come up with a solution no matter how wacky it sounds and they will get my vote over the clueless person that just wants a title.

Don't hold your breath while waiting for that detailed plan.

For me it's simple. With Kitz you will get more of the same. He has no restraint on spending. What we need is someone who will buckle down. Yes, jobs are important and it will take a catalyst in the form of some serious creative thinking complete with a new marketing campaign with some new branding to make us stand out. Certainly Oregon is a great place to live but our social approach to programs and lack of focus on what makes business tick will continue to bog us down.

Fact is businesses need cash to survive and Oregon govt is sucking them dry.

Oregon needs a change in leadership, not more of the same. Dudley is the answer.
