A Fair Idea

It isn’t too early to plan. One thing I would like to see at the County Fair next summer is a booth where fair goers can meet with their elected officials. The Fair would do well to have all the elected there for a meet and greet. On one hand it would assure the local elected ones would promote the Fair, and it would give the average citizen to actually speak with those who they elected and entrust their tax dollars to.

We should have the following spread out through the week: Betsy Johnson, Debby Boone, The Sheriff, the Clatsop County Board of Commissioners, The Port Commission and the District Attorney. Some local mayors might be willing to join in as well.

It would be nice to have the opportunity to actually speak in a casual situation with the people you normally only see on a ballot or in the news.

Great idea...though, instead of booths how about little pens or stalls...an adolescent could be in charge of keeping fresh straw on the floor, mucking it out on a daily basis...bathing and grooming the politician...Seeing Betsy or Bergin freshly bathed, toe nails trimmed and buffed to a glossy shine and wearing a snazzy new halter as their being led around a ring to the oohs and ahhs of an admiring crowd of constituents just appeals to me.

I'm surprised they don't already do this. Our elected folks are usually EVERYWHERE. Kinda makes ya wanna avoid them at times.

Like many County Fairs, ours seems to be declining in what it has to offer and in attendees. It seems that a lot of supporters have pulled out, like James River wasn't there this year. The County or the College didn't have a booth. Most of all, missing for the last several years is the guy in the trailer who will tell you if you are going to hell or not.

Outside booths just seems to be all about police and military.
