Naps

I am an early riser. I am us usually at 4:30am every morning. I set my alarm for 5:00am but it is rare that the alarm ever wakes me.

One advantage of waking up early is that I often get more done by the time most people wake up than most people get done all day.

One disadvantage of waking up early and getting so much done is that I start to fade around lunch time. I no longer resist the urge to wind thing down for a bit after lunch. I have lunch and then I go down for a nap. It takes me under five minutes to fall asleep and I usually sleep for a little under an hour. When I wake up I consider my options. The naps feel so good that I consider trying for another hour, but somehow I find some motivation to go out and accomplish more.

I have to wonder about all the people that tell me that they never nap or that they can’t nap. Oddly I don’t enjoy going to bed for the night all that much, but naps are supreme.

On those few occasions when I take a 1/2 hour nap (due to a very early rising and what the hell is up with that??) I’m amazed at how quickly I fall asleep. Would that I could do the same at night.

Ack! I envy you, guy. No matter how hard I try, I can't nap in the daytime. That is, unless I'm horribly sick. And if I do accidentally fall asleep during the day, it makes me crabby and disoriented for hours afterwards. I'd like a good nap now and then.

i find if I nap for more than 30 minutes, the rest of my day is totally screwed cuz I just cant wait to go back to bed. Groggy all the rest of the day. 30 minutes or under works for me.

The photo of the squirrel is wonderful. Perfect for your post.

I enjoy pushing back in my recliner after lunch for a short nap. I can do that for a while and then I begin to have trouble sleeping at night and have to stop for a while.

I think I'll be okay this summer with the long days. The short winter days make it harder for me to work in a nap.

I enjoy visiting Astoria and was delighted to find your blog. I live in Hillsboro, OR.

i can't usually nap. if i sleep during the day, i'm screwed for the night. however, i was up early saturday morning and wandered around all day until around 430, then came home and took a nap. GLORIOUS! how novel. fell asleep later that night no problem, too.

Right after dinner (our noon-ish meal), I usually get comfortable in the recliner and sleep for a few minutes.

I envy people that can take naps and are still able to function after waking up from it. Me....I'm a total bitch after a nap.
I'm a morning person and I'm good until around 3 PM...it's downhill from there on.

Beth, Practice makes perfect.

Darev, are the inmates allowed naps?

Auntie, It's the act, not the time that brings goodness to life.

Linda, welcome to Rust. I checked out your blogs and that reminds me I'll have to do a post about the Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival for all you knitters out there.

Amy, the best way to deal with it is to flaunt it.

Dalia, keep conditioning yourself. Figure out when it's too late for a nap and work backwards and you should soon be able to work one in every day. Wouldn't that be glorious?

Donna, you and Cliff both strike me as nap takers. Good for you both!

Tango, I don't see why a nap would turn you into a bitch. It should be exactly opposite.

Anon, I throw in the occasional squirrel for my many squirrel fans out there.

i love taking naps. my favorite is when everyone is gone and it's sunday watching golf.

the only reason i don't take more naps is i have a hard time getting to sleep at night! which is not conducive to waking up early.
